CBC's Spark did pic: SPIN farming Wally Satzewicha feature on Small Plot INtensive (SPIN) farming, which uses otherwise unused urban spaces <such as rented backyards or vacant lots> to plant dense, Organic gardens. Instead of growing all types vegetables in one garden, each garden is seeded to a monoculture and crops are rotated. With the correct choice of vegetables, they can produce 2 crops in one summer in some plots - in Saskatoon! SPIN farmers can then sell their produce at farmers markets.
