Gibraltar Sun, by Michael McCollum
Gibraltar Sun, the sequel to the hard science scifi novel Gibraltar Earth, was a fun read that makes me excited to get the final book in this epic series, Gibraltar Stars.
I read the first book while in Mauritius. I printed out the pdf and read a paper version on the beach -- I had purchased a pdf that was designed to be printed on 8.5x11 inch paper. I felt more comfortable leaving the printed pages on the beach when cooling off in the water than my iTouch. I read the sequel as a pdf on my iTouch. McCollum sells various digital formats of his novels, and he has a pdf specifically designed to be read on mobile devices -- it was perfect.
As I mentioned in my Gibraltar Earth post, McCollum has a degree in Aerospace Engineering, so his take on space travel is quite interesting and the physics in his novels is accurate and believable.
